How it works:Nexium is an HIV protease inhibitor that works by stopping the growth of HIV virus particles in the body. Theoretically, this could prevent some HIV infections from happening. However, research has not confirmed that it is truly effective. Researchers have found that once-daily Nexium Delayed-Release Capsules 40 mg works best for reducing fever and pain and decreasing inflammation in the body. The drug is also used to decrease the risk of colon cancer.
Use in children:Courced from a pharmacist or other certified healthcare provider.
Nexium (Esomeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ulcers caused by the stomach and duodenum.
Nexium reduces stomach acid production by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for producing acid in the stomach. It is commonly used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess acid production due to heartburn and acid reflux. Nexium should only be taken under medical supervision and is generally taken once per day.

AstraZeneca said on Thursday it will sell a new, cheaper, generic version of its blockbuster cholesterol drug Nexium.
The pharmaceutical giant is the first to approve the generic, which is based on AstraZeneca's blockbuster cholesterol drug, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP.
The new, cheaper, generic Nexium, which AstraZeneca has agreed to sell under the brand name Crestor, has the same active ingredient as Nexium, making it a cheaper alternative to the older, newer drug. The drug is the second of two drugs to lose patent protection, after Lipitor and Zocor.
The generic Nexium, which has been called a "heart drug," lost the patent on March 20th, a year and a half after it was first launched as a heart drug. It will be available in four strengths, ranging from 10 milligrams to 20 milligrams.
The company said the new, cheaper generic was a "greater improvement" to its cholesterol pill and had fewer side effects than AstraZeneca's existing version.
In the meantime, the company said it had been working on a way to increase production of the drug, which is expected to take up to 20 years.
"The generic is a great way to make Nexium a more affordable and attractive treatment," AstraZeneca said in a statement. "This is the first generic that has been approved for sale."
Nexium's generic rival Lipitor and Zocor, which is under patent protection, are in the same market and are both members of the same family of drugs called statins.
The generic drug was introduced last October after its patent ran out and was expected to go on sale in the second half of this year.
Pfizer, the maker of Lipitor, is also looking for cheaper alternatives.

The generic Nexium is the only one in the class to lose patent protection after losing patent protection on Lipitor. It's also the only one to have been approved to sell a cheaper generic. In a statement, AstraZeneca said: "We have completed the Phase 3 clinical trials and are in Phase 3 clinical trials to confirm the safety and efficacy of Nexium in patients with established cardiovascular disease."
Crestor, the drug's active ingredient, is used in millions of prescriptions in the United States alone.
It's also sold over the counter, making it more accessible to people without a doctor's care or prescription.
AstraZeneca said: "We are pleased to have launched this important product."
AstraZeneca said: "Patients who have used Crestor and other AstraZeneca products will be able to receive an additional $1,000 to $1,500 off the cost of Crestor, which is currently $250 per month."
Crestor's patent on Crestor is still in effect. AstraZeneca is still working to get the patent on the brand name Crestor and other drugs.
The cheaper, generic version of Nexium, which is based on Crestor, has been approved for sale.
Crestor is the first drug to be approved for sale to the public under a brand name.
For now, AstraZeneca will only sell Crestor, a popular heart drug, under the brand name Nexium.
As for the generic, the company said it will keep it as the "original name" of the brand drug.
Crestor was first approved in 2002 as a heart drug and now has been approved for sale in the United States for more than 20 years. It's the first of the two older, newer drugs that have been approved to sell in the United States for up to 20 years.
In 2010, AstraZeneca said the generic version of Crestor was approved for sale.
The new, cheaper generic will be sold under the brand name Nexium.

AstraZeneca has announced the first generic price increase to reduce its drug market share in the United States and is continuing to reduce its market share in Europe.
The news came after the company’s patent on its heartburn drug Nexium (esomeprazole) expired in Europe and the United States, a move that has led to generic versions of the drug being sold in those markets.
The launch of generic versions of AstraZeneca’s heartburn drug Nexium has also seen a reduction in the number of generic versions of the drug in the United States.
The price increase comes just months after the U. S. Food and Drug Administration approved a similar price increase for AstraZeneca’s anti-inflammatory drug Celebrex (celecoxib), which was later withdrawn by the company in Europe.
The price increases are likely to help AstraZeneca keep its market share in the United States in the future, as more generic versions of the drug are expected to be available in the United States.
“We have been working closely with AstraZeneca to make generic versions of this drug more accessible to patients, as well as to provide patients with generic versions that can be purchased for their refills,” said Sidney Wolfe, director of the Public Citizen Center for Generic Drug Practices. “This will help AstraZeneca’s position as a leading generic drug company in the U. S.”
Celebrex is a prescription medication that is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and conditions such as fibromyalgia, and is also used to treat pain from a medical condition such as fibromyalgia, which affects more than 5 million Americans.
The price increase is likely to help AstraZeneca keep its market share in the United States in the future, as more generic versions of the drug are expected to be available in the United States.
“I think the fact that generic versions of AstraZeneca’s drug will be available in the United States, will help AstraZeneca maintain its position as a leading generic drug company,” said Sidney Wolfe, director of the Public Citizen Center for Generic Drug Practices.
